Our Research

The Intensive Care Unit is actively involved in a wide range of cutting edge research activities, driven by a common desire to push the envelope of medical practice and research in the field of intensive care.

Staff Intensivists are all active faculty in the University of British Columbia’s Division of Critical Care Medicine, and many are national and international leaders in the field of critical care.

The breadth of research in the ICU is truly comprehensive in its scope. The basic (bench) biology research is based predominantly in the James Hogg iCAPTURE Research Centre St. Paul’s Hospital where Dr. Walley, an Intensivist at St. Paul’s Hospital, is currently the head.
